bodybuilding in china

 Kevin Levrone

Bodybuilding scene in china is really small comparing to US,europe and middle east, The culture and the knowledge is just not there yet and It doesnt seems to improve at all.
Gym memberships in china costs around 1600Rmb up to 12,000RMB a year.I would say an average gym by western standards costs minimum 6000RMB a year  and most of them refuse to sell  monthly memberships.I believe the heaviest dumbell you can get are 120lbs which I've seen only in 1 gym so far, most gyms max dumbells are 70lbs but its more than enough since 90% of guys in gym even dont get close to dumbell rack!and you can barely see anyone who knows how to train properly.

Sport supplements are really expensive in china since they are imported with minimum 30% tax.Quality western standard grocery shopping can be quite expensive too.meat and chicken sucks here!tastes like plastic and imported australian or brazilian meat are ridiculously expensive.but there are few good things about being a gym rat in china such as good cheap sushi and korean BBQ places,Acupuncture, massage and yes you can buy cheaper gear in china!
